About Us

Bezanson IT Solutions Inc, or BITS as we call it, is a team of highly skilled professionals. We’re a team who love what we do and try to have a lot of fun doing it. Each member brings unique skills and experience to the table, so we're always learning from one another, and share a desire to keep ahead of the curve on technology and design trends. We’re a big happy family, who try really hard to strike the balance between being both a fun, laid back place to work and a well oiled machine - we think we pull it off.

Formed in 2008 by Ian Bezanson, BITS was started as a freelance development business, filling time outside of his full-time job. By 2010, he was so busy with his own clients that BITS became a full time gig. In 2011, while working well over 100 hours a week, Ian decided it was time to expand the business and grow his team. As the project list grew and more clients came on board, we have continued to build the team, one by one, resulting in a tremendous group of talent under one roof.

Our Team

  • Ian Bezanson

    Ian has been working in the IT and software industry for over 10 years, leading the development of regional, national and multinational projects. Receiving his degree in Computer Science from Dalhousie University, he has a strong background in software architecture, development, project planning, user interface design, and database design/implementation.

    Participating in his share of online successes and failures, he has engineered and overseen secure and highly available white labelled solutions servicing everything from peer donation/fundraising, daily deals, group file sharing, and marketing analytics. Ian has also helped to design and deliver various productized SaaS applications targeted at bringing seniors online, rewarding individuals for social promotion of brands, and helping visitors to find events in their immediate area.

  • Meghan Kucey

    Meghan is a driven and ambitious individual that excels in client management and project organization. With a background in graphic design and photography, she returned to school and graduated from Nova Scotia Community College in 2009 with an advanced diploma in Public Relations.

    Her experience ranges from corporate communications to agency. This has allowed her the experience of working both as the client, and with a wide variety of clients. She has played a key role by managing clients and seeing projects from the beginning through to completion.

    She has the utmost respect for a due date - it's not merely a suggestion, it is a deadline.

  • Samantha Babin

    Samantha is a highly motivated professional with strong skills in project management, web development and problem solving. Some of her talents include programming in PL/SQL, Perl, PHP, and Drupal CMS development. While in her final year of university, she used her competitive nature and social savviness to win a new car. She entered an online competition where she designed a personal web page to promote herself and why she deserved to win.

    She has a successful track record in software development, with experience in improving functionality and performance. She graduated from Dalhousie University in May, 2010 with a Bachelor of Informatics, majoring in Bioinformatics. She's always had a passion for web development.

  • Michael Egan

    A (literal) grizzled veteran of boutique marketing and product development agencies, Michael has worked with celebrities, household brands and innovative startups to deliver measurable, sustainable results to their web efforts.
     
    Michael's talents can best be explained through Venn diagram. A talented designer, a pragmatic front end developer and an obsessive usability nut, his work showcases products in delightfully uncomplicated ways. By embracing web standards his projects are able to grow with emerging technology, standing the test of time and delivering value long after the job is done.
     
    If you value your life, never ask him to make something "pop".

  • Simon Lawrence

    Simon has traveled all the way from Melbourne, Australia to join our team here in Halifax. He has a passion for all things tech, known to his friends for waking up at 3am to watch the latest big brand announcements live streamed from the US, and owning all the latest gadgets. He spends his free time keeping up with industry standards, and playing video games when he should be sleeping.

    He has worked across IT and Web Development for the past 10 years specializing primarily in PHP, MySQL & Javascript/jQuery. Designing and developing for boutique websites through to large national campaigns. With experience in email marketing and movie theatre integration, he is now opening his horizons to the world of Drupal CMS development.

    Simon will happily join you for beer and a shrimp on the barbie should the offer be made.

  • Maia Turner

    Maia is ambitious, detail-oriented, and loves working in a fast-paced environment. She graduated from Acadia University in 2010 with a degree in business administration and a major in marketing. Maia comes to BITS with agency experience and has had the opportunity to work for local and national clients.

    Maia goes out of her way to make sure that clients are happy and truly enjoys putting in the extra effort. She believes there is nothing better than working with a great team and producing work that you can be proud of.

    Some of her interests include travel, fashion, and sampling the best burgers Halifax has to offer.
